About Us

St Joseph's Pre-School has been running for nearly 30 years and is a member of the Pre-School Learning Alliance. The Pre-School is privately managed and independent from the school. It is led by Anne Jarrett and Nicola Murray. All managers and staff are extremely well qualified and possess a wealth of experience. We work as a highly motivated and dedicated team, ensuring your child receives the highest quality childcare available.

Children start to learn about the world around them from the moment they are born. The care and education we offer here at St Joseph's helps children to continue to do this by providing them with a wide range of curricular activities that are right for their age and stage of development.

We aim to provide for every sort of play experience - for example:

Natural Play Materials: Sand, water, play dough, bricks and blocks.

Imaginative and Creative Play: (Role Play) home corner, dressing up box, painting, chalking and crayoning.

Manipulative Skills: Constructional and educational toys, jigsaws, use of scissors, glue, pencil control and coordination. Outdoor play and PE sessions.

Musical Appreciation: Singing, Action songs, nursery rhymes, use of musical instruments and music and movements.

Problem Solving: Basic number through play materials, adding and subtracting through selected number songs and counting rhymes.

Communication: We hope to actively encourage self-confidence in the child and develop linguistic vocabulary to allow for freedom of expression. Book corner, story time and library books.

Practical Details

We are open five days a week from 9.00am to 11.45am and from 12.30pm to 3.15pm In addition we also run a successful Lunch club which has proved to be a help to working parents giving them additional flexibility with childcare arrangements. The children are aged from 2 years 5 months and stay at pre-school until they go to nursery (from the September of the academic year they will turn 4 years old) Applications can be accepted from birth.

Our fees are currently 13.50 per session. Fees are due half-termly in advance or full termly if you prefer. Government grants are available for all 3 year olds. This funding is offered for 5 sessions a week starting the term after your child's third birthday. Other assistance may be available, details available on request.
