Year 5

Our Year 5 children have been busy at St Mary’s building bridges for their D&T topic.
We were incredibly impressed with their cutting and sawing skills using saws and bench hooks! They showed excellent resilience, and we all really enjoyed the day.

Year 6

Year 6 have been exploring living organisms and their habitats, with a particular focus on Carl Linnaeus’ classification system. Through this, they have developed the ability to identify and classify a variety of animals and plants based on their unique characteristics. In addition to their scientific studies, pupils have engaged in hands-on learning by constructing the features of invertebrates and creating informative A3 posters illustrating the four main domains of the plant kingdom. To further deepen their understanding, they presented their findings to their peers, sharing knowledge on the individual sections of the plant kingdom and enhancing learning through peer-to-peer discussion.
