World Book Day
Thursday 6th March saw the annual World Book Day at St.Joseph's, and what a day it was.
Pupils and staff alike made huge efforts to dress as their favourite book characters with outfits ranging from Snow White to Where's Wally to TinTin.
The obvious focus of the day, and the weeks around, was reading.
Reading is integral to life and without it chidlren miss out on such fun and escapism; at St.Joseph's we aim to nurture the pupils' enthusiasm and skills through daily reading, activities and days such as these.
We also invite authors and workshops to come into school and engage and motivate the pupils.
This day was also important as we raised a considerable amount of money for charity as well as raising awareness of how fortunate we are in having access to a wide range of books and resources.
Internet Safety Information for Parents
Earlier in the year pupils across the globe celebrated the tenth Safer Internet Day www.saferinternetday.org
This year's theme was 'Online rights and responsibilities' and the key message was to 'Connect with Respect.'
Our pupils explored why and how they access the internet, the pros and cons of the internet and discussed their rights and responsibilities towards others.
They considered the need to behave responsibly online to protect themselves and others by never sharing personal data and treating others with respect.
-If it is not appropriate to say something directly to someone face-to-face, it is also not appropriate online.
-Never share personal details or the details of others without their permission, including real names, address, school, phone numbers and photos.
-Tell an adult immediately if you see something that upsets or worries you.
