Year One – What is the Weather Like in the UK?

Year One thoroughly enjoyed exploring the topic "What is the weather like in the UK?" This exciting topic helped the children learn all about the four seasons, different types of weather, and the clothing we wear throughout the year.

We also discovered the compass points – North, South, East, and West and learned how they help us understand wind direction. As part of our learning, the children created their own weather streamers to check which way the wind was blowing.

The highlight was taking our streamers out onto the school field, where Year One had lots of fun testing them and watching how the wind moved them. It was a wonderful hands-on way to bring our weather learning to life!

Hockerill Primary School's Choir Festival

On Monday 23rd June, the Singing Club took part in a special concert at Hockerill College. During the evening, the children performed a song called, 'Let's get loud' by Jennifer Lopez which went down well with the Hockerill band backing them.

They also sang, 'Go the distance' from Hercules, 'Something just like this,'

'Fight song,' by Rachel Platten, 'Walking on sunshine,' by Katrina and the Waves, 'Clap your hands and sing Hallelujah,' 'Will you be there' and they sang and signed a beautiful song by Bob Chilcott called, 'Can you hear me?'

We were supported by our families who really enjoyed the show too.

Well done to everyone for all of your hard work this year. I am so very proud of you.
