St Joseph’s CatholicPrimary School

Governors

As our school is part of the Catholic Church, the Diocese of Westminster appoints governors to hold the school in trust, and to oversee the operation of the school on behalf of the Archbishop.  The governors “have a legal duty to preserve and develop the Catholic character of the school and to ensure that the school is conducted in accordance with its trust deed (RCDOW).”

The three core functions of the governing board are as follows:

  1. Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
  2. Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the performance management of staff; and
  3. Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent. (RCDOW)

Foundation Governor

As a retired deputy head teacher and a parent of children at the school, I care deeply about education and our school community. Being a governor for the past six years has been a rewarding way to support the school’s ongoing development and help ensure the best outcomes for all our children.
