Governors
As our school is part of the Catholic Church, the Diocese of Westminster appoints governors to hold the school in trust, and to oversee the operation of the school on behalf of the Archbishop. The governors “have a legal duty to preserve and develop the Catholic character of the school and to ensure that the school is conducted in accordance with its trust deed (RCDOW).”
The three core functions of the governing board are as follows:
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
- Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the performance management of staff; and
- Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent. (RCDOW)

I live in Bishop's Stortford with my wife and two children, both of whom attend St Joseph's.
I was fortunate to enjoy an excellent Catholic education at primary and secondary level growing up in Northern Ireland and I am looking forward to preserving and developing the Catholic ethos of the school. I have worked in Government at UK and EU level and am looking forward to using this experience to support the continued success of the school
