Cedar Class
During this half term, our Year 1 children have been developing their understanding of money by recognising coins, counting amounts and exploring value through practical activities. They then brought this learning to life during Enterprise Week, where they had the opportunity to buy and sell items at the stalls. The children showed great confidence handling money, making simple calculations and giving change, and it was wonderful to see their enthusiasm, teamwork and growing independence in a real-life context.

Elm Class
This half term, we have been exploring how to make structures stronger. The children investigated different ways to strengthen paper cylinders, testing ideas such as rolling, layering and reinforcing materials. They then applied their learning to design and build a stable structure for Baby Bear, thinking carefully about how to make it sturdy and fit for purpose.
In Computing, we have been learning how to collect, organise and present data. The children gathered information and used it to create pictograms. They also practised reading and interpreting pictograms, helping them to understand how data can be represented visually. We focused on asking and answering questions using the data they created.
Fir Class
This half term in DT, the children learned about what makes a structure strong and stable. They used this knowledge to design and make a chair for Baby Bear, showing great creativity and careful thinking.

This half term, our Year 2 classes enjoyed a wonderful surprise - meeting some adorable baby chicks!
As part of their learning about the life cycle of chickens, the children had the opportunity to observe the different stages up close. It was a truly special hands-on learning experience that sparked lots of curiosity and excitement.
