Year 1

In Year one we have been reading the text Stanley’s Stick by John Hegley. Stanleys stick is a story about a young boy with a vivid imagination who takes his stick everywhere with him.

We have had an exciting time finding our very stick to create imaginative stories about and transform it in something magical! The children used their sticks to role-play their own version of the story. There were broomsticks and forks and wands…. And we all had a go at fishing! We caught squids, pink dolphins, great white sharks and even a starfish. Where will their imagination take them next….?

We wrote labels on our sticks.

My stick is a rocket, and it can fly to the moon.

My stick is a surfboard and I can surf the waves.

My stick is a fairy and it can fly.

My stick is a penguin and it can swim.

Many adventures Stanley goes on with his stick before he makes a surprising decision! You can find a special stick of your own and think of your own adventures to go on together.

Year 2

In Design and Technology, Year 2 we have learnt all about a ‘balanced’ diet and the importance of having food from each food group.

They have had so much fun with designing, making and evaluating their very own healthy wraps.

They considered what went well and what improvements they could make to their wrap.
